The role of a firefighter is ever-changing. Although responding to emergencies is what we're traditionally known for, the reality is that the majority of our time is spent carrying out other tasks that focus on prevention, education, training and development; all of which means working within the heart of our community.

If you are a caring, empathetic, dedicated individual with a high level of emotional intelligence and resilience, which includes occasionally working in some challenging environments, and are committed to serving the communities of the West Midlands, then this could be the perfect job for you!

Once you have completed the selection process, you will embark on an initial training programme where you will be employed as a trainee firefighter. When you are posted to a fire station following your initial training your salary will be £27,000. When you are a competent firefighter your salary will rise to £36,000 (this may take up to 3 years).
